CompanionCardAccess City Hotline to Handle Companion Card Complaints

Agreement has been reached with Disability ACT for the Access City Hotline to take on the management of complaints relating to the ACT Companion Card Scheme.

The Access City Hotline will provide an independent point of contact for anyone who has a complaint about the operation of the scheme. This includes applicants for Companion Cards, Card Holders or Business Affiliates providing services to Companion Card Holders. The Hotline will follow processes agreed with Disability ACT to manage the complaint process and where appropriate provide advice on other options for redress.

The Companion card scheme enables eligible people with lifelong disability to participate at venues and activities without incurring the cost of a second ticket for their companion. The cardholder presents their card at participating affiliate organisations to purchase a ticket or pay an entry fee and receive a ticket for their companion at no extra charge.

The scheme aims to:

  • support greater social inclusion for people with a disability and their carers
  • provide businesses with a practical way to meet some of their obligations under anti-discrimination legislation

Information about the Companion Card Scheme can be found on the web at www.dhcs.act.gov.au/companion_card.
